4. Skipping Sun Protection
Did you know that up to 90% of all symptoms of premature skin aging are caused by UV exposure from the sun?
When you expose your skin to the harmful UV rays, it speeds up the natural ageing process. Exposure to UV rays breaks down your skin's connective tissue — collagen and elastin fibers, causing your skin to lose strength and flexibility. This results in the skin sagging and wrinkling prematurely- known as photo-ageing and is one of the biggest cause of premature ageing. Other than wrinkles, it also causes blotchy, rough skin and causes an uneven skin tone and pigmentation.
Look for sunscreens that offer both UVA and UVB protection, e.g.Titanium Oxide and Zinc Oxide. A lot of consumers focus on the SPF value, but what protects the skin from photo-ageing is UVA protection.
